DayZ standalone should take note from Arma 3 Breaking Point

Before I get flamed I want to say that I love the SA and im glad I get to be apart of the alpha and hope to contribute in anyway possible to make DayZ the best game possible. Now with that said, I think there are some things they could use/barrow from the arma 3 Breaking Point. First is the hunger/thirst mechanic, instead of having the somewhat confusing text messages in DayZ , what if your stomach mad noise when you're hungry? Or you seem very out of breath/parched when thirsty? Very simple and easy to understand and they wouldnt have to add a hud or spam text messages. Last but not least, would be the zombie AI, I know a lot has already been done to change the AI but i'm curious as to how hard it would be to make the DayZ zombies behave in a similar manner to the BP ones? To anyone who has played Breaking Point would probably agree that the zombies act like they should, and what I mean by that is they move slower but at a good pace, they arent sprinting after you like a olympic athlete. They are attracted towards human players, and will gather in numbers to take you down, that may not seem like a threat but if you enter a building with only one exit and 6 zombies follow you in you either give away your position by shooting to kill or get killed yourself. 

 

Anyway, im sorry if that was hard to follow but hopefully you get the point. I'd like to hear back from anyone who has played both the DayZ SA and arma 3 Breaking Point and hear your thoughts on this.

Breakingpoint can go take a long walk off a short pier.

 

Zombies are in the development map. To (mis)quote Rocket, they're an issue he is 100% aware of, however they weren't worth delaying the game yet.

 

He did say in all caps "DO NOT BUY THIS GAME" on release day.

You guys keep complaining about lack features, zombies and their ai, walking thru walls, ignoring players or agroing on 10kms..

 

I will say it AGAIN.

whoa, who is complaining? obviously neither of you read the first sentence of my post. I LOVE THE STANDALONE, i know its in alpha and i like it as is, all im doing is throwing out suggestions that I think would improve the game. I'm not trying to insult dean or the team, hell they may have already thought of said suggestions and are testing them as we speak. jesus H. christ

I've seen that you ''Love the game'' but you simply are suggesting stuff that is eventually going to be in the game. It's not here yet because it's alpha. I don't wanna look like an asshole, but it's been more people posting here their suggestions even though it has to be obvious that they are going to do that, because its the ''basic'' part of the game.

I think the plan for hunger and thirst etc is to eventually have indicators like you have suggested, though as they are not ready yet, the messages are a stop gap for the meantime.

And chill out other posters, he is only suggesting things he would like to see, not bitching about the game. damn these fanboys get defencible easily these days.

is defencible a word? I. ot it should be!

bp zombies AI seems bad too.  they just folow ur steps.   u can escape 5 zombies around u in a room just walking circle.

I think we need some pinned post that shows players what is being worked on etc...  I get sick of reading post of people complaining about things that are in the works.

 

Most buildings are not populated for loot and not optimized for zombies.  Thus they're empty and zombies walk through walls, for instance.

 

Clearly the thirst/hunger system is being worked on... I feel it would be more help to find actual issues as the devs work.  No the thirst/hunger is not perfect, but they're moving in the right direction.  Give them a chance to come up with a system before saying "hey remake this mod, so I don't have to play the mod in arma 3."

the proper zombies aren't even in the game yet, the zombies at the moment are I guess you could say placekeeper zombies.

In fact they have been and are re working zombie animations and behaviour from scratch, so it will be very cool and interesting to see the finished product.

Sorry to defy the SA fanboi's but I agree with the OP....

 

The hunger/thirst mechanic in ARMA3:BP is a pretty clever and works well, certainly better that what is currently implemented in SA. Rocket has always talked about environmental cues for these mechanics instead of on-screen indicators, and even though he may not want to copy directly, it would at least be an option.....

 

Zed's in SA are far from the finished product, and I look forward to their progression over the coming year.....

True indeed, sometimes they walk around you in a circle and exit the building again for no apparent reason even if you're standing still.
