Suspense (DayZ)

After a few days.. Some thoughts

Recommended Posts

I bought the game for this MOD (bracing myself for the wrath of the community) because I thought a survival game in a world this large would be a lot of fun. So far, it hasn't disappointed.

I know it is early alpha and there are plenty of bugs and I'm sure those are being worked on so I won't mention those here (ocean takes my stuff... again)

Here are a few things I would personally like to see...

1. Zombies in the forest moving to cities.

- If Zombies were spawned in numbers of maybe one third of the zombie population in the woods and roamed toward cities it would make those forest adventures at night much much scarier for survival.

2. Startting without morphine. I would like to see it mean more to find this.

3. More animals in the wild, less food in the cities. I think it is safe to say that an areas food supply in cities would go pretty quick. I think if I was sometimes forced to hunt (more often at least) it would a better feel of survival.

4. Do away with the bandit outfits. I understand why they are there but I personally like the tension of running into a player and not knowing instantly whether or not he is good (obviously sometimes you can end up with the bandit costume on accident from self defense but I think you understand)

5. More ammo, less guns, more zombies...

Also something to keep in mind. Not everyone that comes to this MOD is a "COD" noob or so on. Honestly the deathmatch gun fights going on around cities have made the game more fun for me. The zombie numbers are fairly low and in a group of 3 people hardly a challenge but to know that walking into a city could be deadly around any corner or rooftop keeps the fear factor alive when making a run to a hospital or whatever.

Don't be too hard on me.. I'm new I just wanted to throw in my two cents after a few days of playing.. My current character has been alive for around 9-10 hours.. My last about the same, only died due to a ladder... damn ladders

1. Yes. In fact, more zombies overall that are more threatening. Zombies that increase the risk of most gameplay aspects (firing weapons, running, staying still for extended periods of time). They need to impact the decision making of players to give greater value to gear and your life.

2. Yes. I would actually prefer if we start with far less than we do right now. Possibly even randomising it a little bit.

3. Yes. Canned food/Soda drinks are too prevalent. I'd also like to see the removal of the ocean as a potential water source. Make players have to actually weigh up the risks of crawling into town to use the water pump against dying of thirst before finding a fresh water source to fill up from.

4. Maximum indifference. I don't really care, but they are a coding pain in the ass.

5. Yes. See 1.

Good suggestions.

I agree, more animals would be better than canned food, but the drop rate of the hunting knife and matches might need to be raised ever so slightly. I would also agree with removing the ocean as a water source if i didn't have to go swimming in a pond/lake to refill canteens and risk a full coyote elite pack disappearing into the abyss of the water. If we could go knee deep in these sources, by all means remove the ocean as a water source, but for now, the natural fresh water sources are too buggy.
