Survival Diaries - Chapter I

The First Day of Survival!

[24, 5, 2010] We just didn't know what happened, we woke up in a different world. The whole planet changed, in one

single night. It's impossible. The people are mutated, the country is wiped out. It all became a survival game where you

need to live, and if you fail - you die. No law, no justice - it's you, and others.

[19, 6, 2006]Wade's house is at Balota, I drove to him all way from Berezino (where I live). There's a hurricane happening there and I

don't want to risk myself by staying there. We peacefully went to sleep, and I just woke up and he is already awake. Westepped towards the exit of his house and we discovered something terrible. The citizens of Balota are just gone? No

one is here. It all seems empty and weird. It didn't bother us too much, less noisy cars and noisy kids. But something

must happened, maybe there was an evecuation order?  Is it similiar to Chernobyl? I don't know.

Some guy just ran across the street and he seemed crazy, his arms where lifted towards like a zombie and he was injured, he jumped onto a random person and started biting him. 2 seconds later a group of 3 similiar men just did the same thing on another guy. We are hiding, we are trying to figure out what the hell is happening. Wade is hiding in the kitchen, watching it all from the Window while I am sitting in the bedroom trying to look for any explaination. It seem like there's an infection, literally a zombie kind of a thing. Like those I kill on Black Ops II but slower and much more idiotic. Where did this come from, what is it? Are there any survivors except for us? What should we do?

Wade thought it would be good to visit the Balota Airfield. He says there are military grade stuff that could help us handle any threat infront of us. This is just crazy... What happened and why are we planning to steal military stuff? Isn't it a good idea to pick up the phone and call someone for help? Well, I just did that. It seems like the line is cut off, it seems like any system is broken in this place. No power, no phones and no nothing. Even my car is not working, it seems like it was attacked by those mutated guys. It's weird.

We're at Balota Airstrip. It seems like there are some kind of resupply barracks, military residental buildings and hangars all around the runway. I do not know how to use a gun properly but Wade had some kind of military trainings in the past! He found himself an M4A1 with a 10 rounds magazine and I found a Mosin Nagant, or however you call it. We loot like hardcore soldiers. We took any food and drink we found and even some medical stuff. Wade found a room with a few clothes, so we took what we could - including some big backpacks. We are ready to find out what is happening.

We found a group of 3 confused men trying to find some basic gear. They look like they know everything. They told us there's some kind of apocalyptic infection that spreads around the country. A guy says he is from a country named Republic of Taviana and he tries to find a way to reach his mainland again. They told us the best way to survive is to reach the North West Airfield, and that the fastest way to get there is via Kamenka, where you can run to Zelengorsk, reach Vybor and get there. Since the Balota airfield didn't have any aircrafts, it's the best way to fly from Chernarus and get away from this mess. But they told us that many other survivors tried to go through the Kamenka route and actually find a Military base nearby, but they died somewhere near or after Zelengorsk. Wade had a Chernarus map and carefully looked for any good way to reach the NW Airfield. He found one, pretty dangerous one but it's better than nothing.

Wade marked the route on the map and we started our Journey. Not on the right foot unfortunately. We only had 3 beans, 1 blood bag and 4 canned food. We first ran at the fields of Balota towards Kozlovka. The first kilometers are always the hardest! I felt like my lungs are going to blow up. After 2 kilometers or even 3 we probably reached a very small town. It's not even a town, it's a community with about 7 houses. It was all abandoned. I imagine these guys probably got mutated or just ran for the lives. Everything is weird. You think in another way than you used to before this infection came out. We found 2 festive masks in one of those houses. It's based on a video game called PAYDAY2 I think. We found 1 Wolf Mask and 1 Hoxton Mask. I took Wolf's. I also found nice pants and a blue digital shirt. Oh, and firefighter's hatchets! We assumed it will be useful in the future, hehe.

After a long hour of running and scavenging any type of thing that looked like a possibly building or shelter, with no other survivors found - we reached Pogorevka and Rogovo. These cities had more mutated guys, I just call them zombies. But also had a lot of buildings and a small amount of food and drinks. It's just a ghost country now. All you might find is 5 zombies in one city and that's it! We found some medical kits, including some tools to clean water we found as it might have some unwanted infection. We have a lot of food now but less drinks, it's a bad thing. Wade is very thirsty and I must say I really need a drink too. We procceed from Pogorevka to Rogovo and found 2 waterbottles. We filled them at a well we found in the city and used that medical (or most likely - magical) tool to make them pure so we could drink the water. And finally we found a can opener, half of the food we carried was locked in those cans. They are tightly closed...

After atleast 3 kilometers run, we reached Kabanino. We didn't actually tried to loot that city but it had some usefull stuff. We didn't have any bandages left after I got injured by a surprised attack of a zombie back at Drozhino. We found a shirt and we teared it into rags and used it as improvised bandages. These were pretty effective! We decided to procceed and not waste anymore time in Kabanino since it had almost nothing. We ran about a kilometer and a half and reached the airport's entrance but the night came down on us. We decided to take rest in some residental building at the side of the airport, I think it was a building that used to serve the airport's guards and army forces generally. I found an M4A1 just like Wade's gun. We used some wood the cover the windows and doors so we could sleep safely. The building also had a few supplies such as soda cans and MREs. We went to sleep in those weird soldiers' beds. I tried to think about this day. What happened to Chernarus? What will we do tomorrow? Will we survive? Is there any cure? What ever is waiting for us out there, I'm ready to face it with Wade's help. We will survive this, by any means.

Then I fell asleep. That day passed successfully. I just hope the rest of these days will also be...

To be Continued, Charlie.

Hi, I am Charlie and this thread is a story I write. It tells the story of me and my friend Wade. This story is true and tells you our impressions and experiences (In an In-Character style) from today. We tried atleast 3 times to reach the North-West airfield and failed. Either by us being sick or from my blood loss (and my friends' suicide commitment so we could play together :D) or being attacked. In the first try we reached the military base near Kamenka and someone shot us, in the second try we died at Zelengorsk by a infection (sick) and in the 3rd time we died in Green Mountain since I lost too much blood since I was thirsty.

We both spawned at Balota and tried to go in another route, and it was successful. The story tells about our experience and everything is true in it! It's the first time I made it to the airfield, it's my friend's (Wade) first time too. The route is original and the whole story is actually shortened. It took us about 2 hours and a half to do it. If I see you guys enjoy it and give it a good feedback I will continue writing about it.

It's like the December Round-Up stories of ingame experiences but a bit different and much longer with more content :D.

Enjoy.
