10Hours, Review So Far and Suggestions

Recommended Posts

I've played the mod for a good few hundred hours, so I like to think that I know a thing or two lol.

First off, great job so far!

Things I've experienced about the game so far:

The drink 'problem' isn't really a problem, people need to learn to scavenge not near the coast and don't sprint everywhere.

The inventory system is awesome, but the lag (when I don't even have a chain) is annoying... maybe that's a server issue though.

The annoying zombie sounds and tin cans and drinks suck but that's not much of an issue. If you're looking around and staying vigilant (not being a noob) nothing creeps up on you.

Are zombies really sensitive to detecting you? Because I seem to be found very easily even when I am being pretty stealthy...

I play the game survival style but on high population servers I need to gamma cheat at night. Why? Because using the flashlight at night makes you the most visible person on the planet because it shines through all the walls... Even up to about a kilometre away you can still see people. Speaking of lights, the head torch should be fixed asap because not being able to carry a gun while using a light source is annoying...

When are tents coming? I have maxed inventory space... even with first aid kit and ammo box... I need somewhere to store my shizzle.

Minor thing: when you fill canteens etc at a well as you press 'F' the first thing on the list is 'Drink' rather than 'Fill Canteen', any chance of having those the other way around? I've accidentally drunk before.

Is there some way of notifying that you have 'Open Wounds'? Maybe have a gash or something on your hand/neck? Had I seen that I would have been reminded to clean them with alcohol before getting sick lol (which I managed to remove).

Zombies glitching through walls... THAT is the worst thing about the game at the moment.

Keep up the good work and don't let the idiots bring you down. Haters gonna hate!

Only 2 hours here and I of course am fumbling with controls and the new inventory system.  Most frustrating is staring loot in the face and not being able to pick it up.  I saw matches on a chair, and a motorcycle helmet in a corner, but no pixel perfect pointing got the take object option.  I've been reading other threads and I guess using the inventory key will show it in the vicinity window.  Have not tired that.  Also agree flashlight is not worth it, it does not point in a useful direction so I just gamma max.  I've been whipping it out from time to time in buildings but it is very hard to use.

I also noticed that the servers are active and I'd guess at least 300 people are playing at any given time, so nice job there.  I also signed up for the bug tracker but there are alread 1,300+ bugs so you really have to search and stuff if you want the tracking to be effective.  You also need someone to categorize the bugs and so on.

Hiring?

That is by far the best way to pick stuff up... It has to be in you line of sight though (1st person) and next to you.

You do know you have to press space bar with items to aim them right? If you do that then it points forward... rather than to the side...

I don't like gamma cheating because I get really into the game and the atmosphere etc... but until they actually fix going around at night properly there isn't much choice, though on low pop servers at 2am in some far off town I generally do things properly. Gamma cheating ruins my experience a bit... but dying needlessly ruins it more! Haha!
