Every Character I Have Disappears

Ive had about six characters now and i cant play with them for more than a couple of hours, i get decent loot and get my self to the point where I can survive sufficiently then BOOM i join a server and start over by the coast :/ i know its an early access alpha but this issue really needs to be addressed.
