Since there's been a lot of talk about the starting gear, (some for and against) why not let the player decide at respawn what he/she wants to spawn with.Upon respawning, a list of classes can come up to choose from similar to choosing male or female. Here are some of the classes and starter gear I have in my head:Soldier-Makarov-2 Makarov MagsMedic-3 Bandages-1 Painkiller-1 Morphine-1 Blood BagHunter-Knife-Axe-MatchesNavigator-Map-Compass-FlashlightPack Mule-Starts with Czech BagThis is just what i envisioned in my head. With this framework, stats and skills or whatever can be implemented latter on. But with this, it would be an easy fix to the starting equipment debate. Turin (DayZ) 3 Posted June 21, 2012 Not a bad idea, but to be honest, I'd prefer it if every player just started out with absolutely nothing.Also, wouldn't an idea like this potentially increase PvP killing dramatically? I mean, someone could choose to be a soldier, then just run along the coast killing defenceless medics, navigators, and pack mules until they're well equipped. xAtomZx 48 Posted June 21, 2012 I've thought about that, but if you pick anything but soldier your number one priority would be to get off the coast and arm yourself. And if you think about it, even though soldiers would be a popular pick, you would still have to be careful since one zombie attack that leaves you bleeding would be the end for you. You would simply make it into a Hunt humans game.Solution is player are the same- survivors but they can find book or items that will gain skills- aimed at rebuilding society/ and target social and team building.There would be no sub class that would promote killing.If the chance of items/guns being damaged during combat, then you could have a book that could open the ability to fix damaged guns/firearms. I personally alway play with a group of friends and this would make it very interesting to have all of us play a different role to make early game a little more dynamic. Its tough when we're all looting early on and have to split all the equipment up to where we all don't get to have a full set.And as for people picking soldiers to hunt other classes, right now in game I've come across someone with a gun camping newly spawned players multiple times, and its no different. This would atleast give you the option to defend yourself if you choose to do so, or get a head start in other areas, such as medical supplys, or hunting supplys.
