Huge problem with FPS

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, first post here!

First of all i need to say that my loving the game and the community. :)

The problem is with my FPS, with a 1920x1080 res and everything on low or disabled i cant get more than 30fps. I already tried to change seetings in .cfg files and tried to add steam startup commands and its still the same.

Just wondering if the devs are planing to improve performance of the game and if im the only one with this problem (constantly)?

Here is my setup:

Asus M4A79 Deluxe

AMD Phenon II X4 955 3.2GHz 6MB

AMD Radeon HD 7700

Kingstom 2x2x2x4 1333Mhz CL9

Seagate 1Tb SATAII 7200rpm 32MB

PS: My GPU and BIOS drivers are updated. I can get 40+ fps in BF4 with medium settings.

Keep up the good work,

Thank you

Have you tried playing on Windowed and is your video memory set on Auto?

Edit: Yes, the developers are aware of performance and only done optimizations on server, nothing for client as of now but will be worked on.

Remember that this is alpha and that they still have to work on the optimization.  As time goes on your fps should get better.

Game has yet to be optimized in clienside, that will happen later once the more important stuff has been finished and fixed. I have gtx 760 and AMD fx6300 and get about 30-40 fps in the forests, Still better than the mod, though so I'm happy :D

Thats odd, you have way better specs than me, and I can get pretty close to 30 fps on normal/high

Same, I usually top 30 fps on everything high with items on very high.

I wish there were some more zombies though.

Remember that this is Arma, you cannot really hope to get much more than 30 FPS regardless of hardware.

Why? We can only speculate, I suspect however, that the game tries to grab too much data straight from the hard-drive and probably doesn't use as much memory as it should thus creating a bottleneck meaning your CPU and GPU can't work at their full potential as they must wait on the slowest part of any computer: The hard-drive. This bottleneck shows itself when the object count is high. Such as in cities or with very long view distances (more objects in view).

I'm using an SSD, and I can't say that really makes much of a difference. You could try RAID SSDs but unless bohemia themselves say that the game can actually be run at 60 FPS and they provide steps to reproduce it then you're basically shit out of luck until bohemia decides it's time to rewrite the whole rendering engine.

Oh and of course the netcode matters. So you must keep that in mind as well, arma notoriously has bad multiplayer performance. The causes can be many, the aforementioned bottlenecks or the heavy reliance on scripts. It's just a fact of arma that you're just not gonna get consistent 60 fps.

Some armadrones will tell you that they get 'great performance', but that just means they consider 30-40 to be great. So you're not the only one.

Which AMD Radeon HD 7700 card is that, 7730, 7750, 7790

Plus, you drivers might be up to date, but you could have certain software setting set incorrectly.

Go into you AMD catalyst control panel, and have a look, a quick google search and you can find a opitmised setting, or you could look into clocking the card.

If you are new to clocking look here

or here

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/09/15/how-to-overclock-your-graphics-card/1

The game has optimisation issues, but if you really want to try and inprove your fps geve the two links a go.

Also ask around in these forums, they are really friendly people with a world of information

I wouldn't advise OCing your card (or system for that matter) for the purpose of arma (or dayz, which is just a derivative of arma) as you will not see any significant gains.

Not true. I am getting a stable 55-60 ffp swhile playing the SA. Everything set to high, post processing crap turned off.

This is with a gtx 770 and i7-4770
