If you're having trouble quenching your thirst right off the bat, know that there are several pools in the woods NW of Balota airfield - relatively near the coast - that you can drink directly from or fill water bottles and canteens at.

There are also water pumps north west of the main intersection in kamarovo and another north of the market in Cherno. So far I have noticed that the old dayzdb map for the mod is still right about the pumps.
