Stopping to switch weapons?

So yeah, you know how in the mod your character has to stop to switch between weapons because running and pulling out an axe is too dangerous to perform at the same time..

I understand this is the Alpha but will this be addressed in the SA? I thought this was the kind of thing we could get rid of by building the game from scratch?

With your weapon lowered (space bar by default) your character will continue to run as he/she switches his/her weapons.

It does work that way. As stated lower your weapon, "Space" is the default for raising and lowering the weapon/hands.
