Should antibiotics give you sickness?

Recommended Posts

I was cleaning up inventory and had an extra antibiotics at 8% wasting space. Rather than just dumping it I used it. This caused me to get mildly sick. Thinking that it had somehow poisoned me, I used a charcoal tab to try clearing said poison, which made me get more sick. Using some of the other antibiotics brought me back up to mildly sick.

Haven't a clue if this is how these are supposed to work.

Well fed and watered at the time.

I think if you use antibiotics or other medicines when you don't need them, it can/will cause you to get sick.  I'm not 100% certain about that though so don't take my word for it.

I have no idea, but it'd be interesting if they did - I know in real life, strong antibiotics can have side effects. I once had to miss a Foo Fighters show because I was on antibiotics and... well, let's just say a three-hour car journey wasn't on the cards. :p

Antibiotics stop bacteria from multiplying, some also kill them off.

Your digestive system has symbiotic bacteria that do lots of things. Antibiotics will kill them off to, which usually leads to diarrhea.

It doesn't matter if you really are sick or not.

Well you saw it in action for yourself. Taking antibiotics when you don't have an infection is incredibly dangerous. Also, it seems that to fully cure an illness, you need to complete a round of them (seems to be half a package or so). If you don't finish antibiotics in full, or take them when you are not sick, it can cause drug resistant infections.
