iongaming33@aim.com 137 Posted December 18, 2013 Recently, there have been a ton of posts from server owners demanding things like server naming, daylight changing, and server messages. There have also been some insane demands like private hives and load out spawning that nobody should even need to rebuke. With all the posts, it would seem to the everyday player that "everyone" wants a ton of server options. This is not true. I speak for myself, everyone in my group, and everyone I have met who has played DayZ and Arma II since release.1. Server naming- This issue isn 't too huge, but I think should be held off at least until release. Allowing custom names is often good allowing clan promotion etc, but you get a ton of trolls who name their servers something absurd, and make the game seem unprofessional to the new player. As I said, this isn't too huge of an issue, but could help preserve some professional elements of the game.2. Daylight control- Now I know with the current settings, a lot of players have only played in the dark, but allowing daylight control can turn out horribly. If server owners are given control over the day/night cycles, we will surely see 24/7 daylight servers, which again, take away from the game. Nighttime is a very important part of the game, that players should experience. Obviously, the current cycle should be changed. Maybe the server owners could be given the ability to shift the time of daylight, such as setting midnight or something. Or maybe they can change the daylight:night ratio, but within certain limits. For example, they can change when it becomes night time , and change the ratio a bit, but with a minimum of 5 hours of night time.3. Server messages- Server messages will ruin immersion. I believe the devs are trying to get rid of the "modified file" messages as it is. A lot of people have good reasons for these arguments, but I really value the immersion, realism, and professionalism that the devs have worked hard for. I'm interested in seeing responses.Thanks,-Jigsaw
