First day in Chernarus

Recommended Posts

Well yesterday I had a great first day in DayZ. Me and a couple of army buddies decided to gang up in the stand alone like we did in the mod. I had died once trying to find one of the guys around zelenogorsk and had respawned only to get an axe in the noggin while rummaging through a military base around what i think was Balota. I managed to get clear, bandage myself and find the north star. So I started heading north, hoping to catch the power lines on the way and follow them west to zelenogorsk. However, I suddenly found myself around Kozlovka and we agreed to meet up in the middle by finding the power lines and following them. My mate had some trouble with a graphical glitch so we started trying to find out what triggered that bug and if we could fix it, it took awhile, so that didnt work...So i had to guide him to zelenogorsk. On the way there my mate got blinded by the bug. I was about 100 meters behind him and saw movement to the left. This guy had a tactical helmet, a weapon, large backpack and he had definatly seen my mate. My friend in his ever growing wisdom had given me his M4 when the bug started, so at least i could defend us if this guy proved to be hostile. I told my mate to hit the deck, and I did the same. My mate couldn't see anything, but i had my eyes on this unknown who had also hit the deck, he got up and ran back towards a fence with 3 single trees to the south.

I could see on his movement that he had not seen me, his only thought was on my mate who was scared shitless cause he couldnt see him. I spent about 5 minutes watching him, he moved around up near the fence trying to spot my mate who was prone in the middle of this field. After a bit he disappeared from my view, so i started crawling very slowly up the hill, keeping my distance to him. After about 5 minutes of slow crawl i had made it to the fence, 1 minute later i was behind his last known position, in cover, perfect sightline down towards his position. And thats when he stood up to get a better view of where we were...such an impatient young man, his rifle was raised, but so was mine, and he had not seen me, nor could he see my mate. 3 shots broke the silence, 2 in the chest, 1 in the head..He hit the ground with a thud. Victory! We divided the spoils between us and buried the body. I'd hoped I didnt have to shoot him, but he was a threat that had to be dealt with.

After a bit, my mate and I headed towards zelenogorsk in search of food and water, and our 3rd mate who was heading towards us from pavlovo.
