A nubish question

I enjoyed the DayZ mod for Arma but felt that there where a few things that was missing.. Like, if I want to play with some friends, its nearly impossible to find each other since it was random spawn. Has there been any improvment on that for the stand alone?

 

I am sorry for asking a question that might have already been answered. But even searching it I couldent find the answer(though I might have used the wrong search term of somthing)

The official answer is... Welcome to DayZ. You just have to learn to play the game and get good enough to meet up with your friends.

I have died multiple times and each time I have only spawned in 1 of 2 spots. If you need a map, I have been using this one here to get around as I am not very familiar with the lay of the land myself. Just look for landmarks and try to get your bearings.

It's even harder now as you don't get that text telling you where you spawn.
