i get really good fps when looking at the ground... my computer cant handle the render distance and i was wondering if there was a way to turn it down like there was in the mod

There was in the mod? As far as I know it was server dependant.

 

EDIT : There is an entry for viewdistance in the config files, but I doubt it works. (Server dependance)
