Hatchet bug?

What happened: Unable to see hatchet in my backpack when accessing my backpack alone, however, able to see hatchet (which shows as shotgun shells) when I access my backpack while accessing someone else's backpack or a tent, or any other type of storage where you get a visual representation of the items in your backpack. When I transfer hatchet into someone else's backpack I can no long see it to transfer back into my main inventory. Somehow hatchet ended up on the ground through all this testing and I could see it (showed as a green ammo bag) but could not pick it up. I was trying to get the hatchet into my main inventory from my backpack so I could get some wood and not starve.
