EDIT: Also, to avoid people talking in side chat while you record, for example use

 

A program like fraps to record your game audio, and Audacity to record your microphone audio so that when someone talks in side chat,  you can lower the fraps audio and still keep your audio and your mates in tact.

The program I use, Mirillis Action! allows you to record the audio to a separate track, something i keep meaning to look into!
