Network Errors when running DayZ

Recommended Posts

Ever since I started playing DayZ this used to happen, but as of recently this has been getting worse and worse. DayZ will launch and run as normal but every 5 minutes the game kicks my internet off. Not long enough to completely remove me from the server, but the time out message will normally appear for a good 20-30 seconds, before returning to normal. The connection is wired and it only happens when I play DayZ, anything and everything else I play, applications I run work fine which is what has me stumped. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

* I did go through all of the network troubleshooting and opened up the various firewall ports that are needed, just to rule that out

Are you using DayZ Commander?

I've tried with both DayZ Commander and Six Launcher as well as the manual install

I'd stick with DayZ Commander as it's the most useful..

Here's what to do which could help you out.

Upper Right Corner

  • Go to settings
  • Commander Options
  • Check where it says Max Connections: (number) - Stability (less) / Performance (More)
  • For me, I use 40. Higher it is, more laggy it may be. I don't really see much of a difference other than not being disconnected off your network.

Conclusion: This is caused by the information being overloaded when you refresh the server list. This is a known issue and can create network crashes.

Sorry for the extremely delayed response, Sixth Form has been hectic the last week or so. At first it did work, managed about half an hour without disconnects. After that though I was disconnecting roughly every 10 minutes, and after about an hour it was every 5. I'm starting to think this may be hardware related though. Had something identical happen to me on Battlefield 3 the other day (Timing was different but the premise is the same, after finishing a game my local connection would seeming just die on my for a couple of seconds). Could something as selective as this be a hardware issue or possibly even a driver issue with my network card?

I could apologize for my very late reply myself but it's a possibility but this could be a bandwidth issue with your ISP or possibly your modem perhaps. If you contact them, then they could work something out with you via online or phone call.

I'm greatful you even replied in the first place :P
I've looked into my internet service lately, but and everything is as it should be - if anything it's better than usual.

13ms ping

63mbps down

2.94mbps up

Just seems like such an odd thing to be happening. Internet wise other devices in my house all seem to connect fine with minimal issues.
