Adjusting sound (movement vs zombies)

I find that when I'm sneaking around it's hard to hear the zombies over the sound of my own movement. I believe the zombie sounds and the movement sounds are both categorized as the same thing, is that correct? I'm looking for a way to separate those sounds so that I can hear zombies better. Tips?
