Extremely high ping variation to a server.

Hey guys,

 

I recently was coaxed into playing DayZ Epoch after a long hiatus from DayZ. But when I try to log on to the server my mate plays on, I get kicked due to an abonormally high ping. The strange thing is, my mate lives 10 minutes away from me and I get 100ms higher ping to the same server he plays on. I found out the server is located in Montreal, Canada and did a speedtest.net to it, and got a result of 250ms-260ms (from Australia). This is 100ms lower than what I get to this Epoch server.

 

I've played perfectly fine on this server for 15-20 minutes with a normal ping, but now every time I try to log on I get over 350. I've tried verifying my cache, closing out all programs so only DayZ Commander is running, turning off my firewall, to no avail. I've also tried searching around to see if anyone else has this issue, and haven't found anything.

 

If anyone can help me with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

If you are the only one having this problem, (which sounds like it) then you should start to look at your provider or router/modem.
