Server diversity

I just want to make a call for simplification of the server situation at the moment. It is a mess, there are servers that require 1.7.5, others 1.7.4 or even 1.6. Some like old betas and others want the latest version. There even are closed servers or servers that kick you out after 5 minutes...

If you start to combine those factors, you get a picture where there is a huge list of servers, yes. But the number of servers that use the actual latest patch and beta is much lower. Of course, those servers are very full.

Is there any way to have convergence so that a majority of servers can be connected to?

I understand that we are in alpha and that servers are provided by the community, but I think it would benefit everyone if the vast majority of servers were at the same level of patch/beta and that coincided with SixUpdater levels.
