New Nutrition System?

Recommended Posts

I got curious about this "new nutrition system" they talked about and searched about it.

The thing is, I found no good information. All I found was stuff like "oh if you eat too much chocolate and sugar you get diabetes and die" etc.

So I really wanted to know if the nutrition system will be realistic or this "chocolate kills you" thing.

Btw, I consider a realista nutrition system something with proteins, carbs, vitamins and stuff like that, not something like "if a player ingests 3 chocolates and 2 soda cans he gets sick". Also, real life is not exaggerated; so, if in real life I don't get to ingest vitamin A in 2 days, this doesn't mean I'll get blind. In real life, if I don't get to ingest vitamin K in 4 days, this doesn't mean I'll bleed to death.

One other thing, there's no point in dying from starvation. It will obviously make you have vitamin and protein deficiencies, but a human can survive about 40 days without eating. Dying from dehydration makes sense, because a human can't stand 4 days without water... So in a realistic system (what they're trying to create I guess), you wouldn't be able to die from starvation, but get sickness and weakness from it, because you would not have enough nutrients.

I know it sounds a bit confusing, so I'll get to the point:
- How complex will this nutrition system be?

- Will it be exaggerated?

- Stupid or realistic?

And, the most important question...

Do you guys think it will be so realistic OR exaggerated that it will cut the fun out of the game?

Most likely it will be a short term effect, stomach ache, nausea. Those types of effects, drink too much water and you start vomiting, eat too much chocolate, you might start limping while holding your stomach as a sign of bad stomach ache.

In real life you don't consume one box of antibiotics and feel better either, but game time and real time need some separation. Don't forget that in a single hour of playtime your character often runs the equivalent of a moderate length 5k marathon if not double that. No one could reasonable do that several times over the course of a day and only eat a couple cans of food and few beverages. It's exaggerated to have an effect or not get into the way of enjoyment. I presume the nutrition system will be similar. Lack a certain thing and you may end up with brittle bones that break easier when you are damaged. Wouldn't that be fun? :)
