punky (DayZ) 0 Posted October 12, 2013 * Server this happened on. US47 (IP available if needed/ server manager: cloudlogic)* Time that it happened including your timezone. between 1am-3am Eastern time* What happened during the incident: I was alone near NW airfield. User Gaz spawns in. After few minutes a Data execution prevention crashes my Arma 2. :( I never had this happen with ARMA2 OA before that I can recall. I'm immediately suspicious so find a different server with no players. I spawned near Barn west of NW Airfield and trek into NWA. First barracks I check have open doors & empty. I suspected Gaz been there and maybe crashed me on US47 to have those goodies for his greedy self too. I go after him. >:( Spawn back into US47 and look for him at NW airfield. As I'm going Hanger to hanger Gaz suddenly comes from behind. :o Attacks me with silent pistol, I avoid, run - he chases. I switched from Crowbar to M14 as he rounds the corner - and shot him dead! :D Because of blood loss, Zombies break my leg, and I die. I spawn back in US47 , trek from beach all way to NW airfield. Get my things back.I loot his dead body. Gaz had NIGHT VISION GOGGLES, RANGE FINDER, M24, M16/203, SILENT M9, Ghillie etc.I have never found NVG nor Range Finder. EVER. Never had good rifle until version 1.8 Is this a hacker modus operandi? If so what can be done?Is this server jumping and collecting-nice-things business, cheating? Crashing a players game is a DIRTY ROTTEN thing to do!
punky (DayZ) 0 Posted October 12, 2013 BTW. This was the first time I've killed another player. I had no choice.
bensticles 75 Posted October 12, 2013 Not quite sure what you mean. Is he a hacker because of the gear? or because you think he crashed you? Once you play awhile you can get that gear pretty easily.

hogscraper 328 Posted October 12, 2013 Well you didn't actually see him server jump did you? You said you only supposed he had been on the other server you went to when you really don't have a reason to think that at all. It could have been a coincidence that you were at the same location where he had spawned in. You said you left and went to another server after he spawned so the chances that any given player, (realizing they are on a now empty server), would head to NWAF for easy loots is pretty high. You killed him so he definitely wasn't using god mode. He had a decent load out, but I have had better myself and never cheated. I've found a few NVGs and many, many ghillies and camos in apartment buildings. I've watched two groups of people slaughter each other with everyone dying and came in once the dust settled to loot their corpses. Five minutes and I had rangefinder, two NVG, a dmr, an as10 and multiple sd pistols. It could have been a hacker but it definitely doesn't sound like it from what you've posted. punky (DayZ) 0 Posted October 12, 2013 Not clear? I'll try again. 1)Have other players experienced ARMA2 shutdown by Windows D.E.P. during game play?Did they suspect another player caused this by a script, hack, or known exploit etc? 2)Is jumping from server to server in order to farm the military base regions like NWA, (accumulating all the military items from several servers) a dirty trick to gain advantage? (I think it is. It may explain why some never had chance to find items like NVG.) Players doing this jumping/farming likely feel entitled to the items they're after, and would have no shame in crashing another players game. I just wanted to know if other players experienced/recognized these two items, and hoped they'd share what they had learned about it.
