REAL SFX.. or not.

Recommended Posts

I just got back from the internet underground and it wasn't long before I was thinking about DayZ.

I viewed a few video's where people are beheaded. Cast your judgement at me all you want but I can say that I greatly appreciate having my head more than I used to and have a greater respect for the fragility of our fleshy bodies.

So, when the blade enters the throat, there's a crazy sound. The blood gargling, futile sound as the throat is separated from the lungs but the lungs still instinctively breathe in and out. Sounds like a hissing pig sound.

So, I figured if you want to make DayZ more horrifying, you could include similar sound effects as zombies eat your corpse. Maybe have a 1/100 chance of it occuring just before death. Or after dying from a PVP knife attack or something similar > Being shot in the neck.

As the sound effects stand, they're treated as two different entities..

There's a zombie sfx.
There's a player sfx.

There's no synchronisation between the two and there's no real.. realism.

There's a demand for physical interaction between players and zeds. Like seeing them grab you, hold on etc. I think this idea is its twin (twisted) sister.

[May I ask how SFX for the SA are progressing?]
