Low FPS - 2 x Gtx 780, 3930k 3.2 ghz

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!
I'm getting low FPS with:

2 x GTX 780
3930k 3.2 ghz

32 Gbs of ram.

I'm unsure what to do, and have tried setting my launch parameters on DayZ Commander to: -nosplash -cpucount=6 -exThreads=7 -maxvram=2047
I get around 29-34 fps in cities, other than that I get 40-45 in the forest, and have tried a few different servers. ( In specific wanting to play on US 3480, since it's the only "good" vanilla server I know of. )

I realize that ArmA 2 is poorly optimized, but is this the usual, or normal for this type of system?
Thank you very much for your time!

FPS is a lottery when it comes to arma 2/dayz

can't really do much about it, you'll have to wait for the standalone for stable, realistic framerate (hopefully)

Try disabling your SLI and run it off the single card.

Seriously? 29-34 FPS is actually pretty good!

Haha, just wondering for streaming.

Try disabling your SLI and run it off the single card.

Have tried, got a bit more with SLI enabled.

Got it, thank you.

Is there any certain rig that could run DayZ at 40+ FPS at all times?

I get 70+ FPS outside cities and about 40-50 FPS in cities.

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB

CPU: i5 3570K 3.4 GHz Quad core

RAM: 16 GB GDDR5 Ripjaws

Honestly, just dick around with it a bit - it can be broken one minute and work the next.

I was getting 40FPS+ FPS constantly on my old rig:

i5 2500k @ 5GHz

8GB Gksill Sniper 1600MHz

1.5GB ASUS DCII GTX580

128GB Crucial M4

even though yours is significantly newer, it just takes a bit of fiddling sometims.

Funny, I get better frames than you... like 25-45 in cities/towns(Cherno 25, 30-35 in Kras, Zelen, Beren, and 40-45 in all other towns and airfields). I get 60 FPS in forests and plains outside of the city.

My rig:

Radeon HD 7870 2gb Twin Frozer

AMD FX 8320 OC'ed to 4ghz

12gb DDR3 Kingston 1866mhz

1tb(2x 500gb) Seagate Barracuda

ArmA is a strange beast indeed :P

Try installing Geforce Experience, ArmA2/Operation Arrowhead is supported and let it use the recommended setting :)

Mine was ok without it but wow, what a difference with it, better FPS and the game looked much prettier.

You didn't give us any details about your graphic settings!

Is your game resolution set to your native monitor resolution? Is the 3D resolution at 100%? What about shadows and view distance? PPEs?

Yes, 1920 x 1080

Yes.

Shadows - Normal

View Distance - 999

PPEs - Disabled

Everything is at high except for: AA ( Disabled ),  Shadows ( Normal ), HDR ( Normal ), PDAA ( Disabled ), PPE ( Disabled ), VSyng ( Disabled ).

I heard setting things to high will take stress off the CPU.

Try everything at "Normal" and compare that to everything at "Ultra" (highest possible, except disable/"low" shadow and no post process effects or vsync). Try setting your resolution to 1280x720. Change view distance to around 800 (realistically, shooting past that isn't likely to hit anyway)

Changing the render distance will not affect FPS, it's locked to a certain point in DayZ

What about the rest of your rig ? Uneeded services and processes etc ? There are a lot more things you can do to get consistently better gaming than just in game settings.

Start here.. pick your os and start reading and applying :)

 WINDOWS SETTINGS

run a lean machine, you may be surprised.

Disabling sli in the arma series is a good start unless things changed, it was always a dog for me on two cards..but.. sus out this thread on sli and arma.. HERE

It's a CPU bottleneck and ArmA SLi issue, I think. I'd overclock your CPU and run on one graphics card if possible.

I'm playing on a server that is fairly slow (a lot of people complain about FPS there) and I get 40-80 FPS with everything maxed, object detail: normal and post-process effects: disabled, with an i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz, 8Gb 1600Mhz RAM and a single GTX 780.

Here is the fix:

Go to this folder:
C:\Users\Anonym\Documents\arma 2

Open this files:
ArmA2.cfg
ArmA2OA.cfg

And Edit this lines:
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=XXX;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=XXX;

To:
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

Enter your game and change your Video memory settings to:
Default
