arma2oaserver.RPT low server fps - please explain what this mean

Recommended Posts

Hey, the arma2oaserver.RPT shows low debug fps. Whats a good value for the server FPS and when does it affect the Player FPS?

I believe average server fps should be around 40, don't know much more about it though i'm afraid, though that AI piloted c130 might not be helping matters.

If you post your server specs and a list of the custom scripts you are running it might give a clearer idea of whats happening.

Server fps is not so relevant.

Basically you should restart your server every 3 or 4 hours. After 3 hours, server fps is often around 10.

Consequences can be huge, specially in 1.8. You can notice several lags:

- loot / zombies clean-up

- gear updates after a fireplace/trap placement

- transfusion

- hive sync

- player/vehicle variables sync (new in 1.8)

- player login

Server side FPS determines how quickly the "simulation" runs on the server side. As facoptere described, all the things the server does like dead body cleanup, etc. If your server FPS drops below 10, things become inconsistent and people will notice strange things happening when they are around zombies/objects and while they are trying to do things like manage inventory.

So they are not frames per second, but why its called fps?

They are frames per second - for the server. This is not directly related to frames per second each client (how quickly their machines can render what is happening on their screen). Simulation frames are not graphical frames, they are "complete" calculations for everything the server has to process like player movement, bullet physics, etc.
