haywardgb 129 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) I'm running a public server (official hive) with disableVon set to value 1 in the server cfg file. Now I only mention that because it may or may not be the cause of the problem. Most of my users are complaining that they can't use Direct Chat (voice or text) , however they can use Vehicle and of course Side. I've tried turning the disableVon on and off, but the results are mixed each time, even when set to 0 some of the players can't see or hear direct chat. Because my user base changes so much its difficult to test it with the same players each time (to get an idea of whether the on or off states for disableVon have any greater or lesser effect), so I'm just wondering if anyone here has had the same issue and maybe fixed it? Im no DZ server host, But I have to imagine there is a better way to deny certain chats(vehicle/group/side/direct) other than that option. As I stated above I do not host a server but that DVON seems pretty obvious that it is you problem. EDIT: After reading past the line i read I see you have already tried this. Are you on a public/private hive? Was this working prior to the 1.8 update? haywardgb 129 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) No ,that's not the problem. I've been hosting dayz for over a year so I'm honestly not that stupid lol. That setting is ONLY supposed to turn off VOICE in Sidechat , even if your theory was correct , it shouldn't be disabling TEXT-CHAT in Direct (which it does) and if that is the case, why can players still talk in voice and text chat in Vehicle? They can also still type in SideChat. (fyi: some users can talk to each other, even when that setting is enable, if you read my post properly you'd have seen that.. it's not you, I'm just a grumpy old bugger lol). I'm actually hoping that one of the developers answers this question because in all honesty the lack of answers to real questions on this forum is shocking. No offence, but all I see are answers from people who don't know what they're talking about. People just taking wild guesses based on a hunch etc (which is ok, but when that's all there is, its just the blind leading the blind). Also please look up the differences between Public and Private servers. Your link is for private servers, I said that I'm running a public server (the first paragraph says it's an official hive public server, sorry if you missed that). Like I said, no offence but I'd like one of the developers to answer this for a change. Also I don't run a server but the point you make about 'derp animals? derp' being answered and not this actually sounds extremely infuriating. haywardgb 129 Posted September 29, 2013 Ok fixed it (kind of). Your answer was actually really close so I owe you an apology sorry, my armaprofile wasn't set up properly (it was very out of date). I've managed to turn on names when people talk in side now, even at Veteran level (so that's better than nothing). The disableVON still breaks Direct chat though, so not much further with that.
