I have no clue about any of this, what servers can and cant do, what can be edited by servers or wtf...But it seems that it's a setting within the mission file. So DayZ could enable/disable it. Which I hope they do. Finding servers with certain settings is already a PITA as it is.

Description.ext is mission config placed in mission's root.

As with chat channels servers are able to choose, but DayZ overwrote whatever choice servers made with this file. Servers can edit this file as well afaik, but it's something that is frowned upon or maybe even blacklist-able.

Ha ha, this is what I was thinking also. I mean, a few magazines, some beans and a few cans of soda can't weigh that much.
