Bolts for Crossbow

Recommended Posts

Crossbow is an awesome weapon for the survivalist in the woods. Sometimes it just seems that even if you hit the target the bolt hits the target so that it vanishes behind the corpse and you cannot reaquire it. Would it be possible in anyway to make it so that if you hide the body the bolt automatically reappears under the body?

On this note, it's kind of ridiculous that crossbow bolts are 1 item per slot.

On the 1 bolt/item slot issue;

I'm assuming that it's a bit harder than just making the bolts stack due to the engine using magazine ammo counting and not individual projectile ammo counting.

Say you make it 3 bolts per stack or whatever, you fire and when you go collect the bolt again the engine would see it as picking up another magazine.

So you'd fire 1 bolt to pick up 3. I hate to say it guys, but having crossbow "magazines" could mean we lose our infinite ammo :(

I think I got a brilliant idea, if it would even work ingame.

Ajdust the rate of fire for the crossbow to like 1 round per 3 seconds, after each round have it play the reload animation. Now bolts can stack, but the rate of fire is kept down and the animation plays to keep it looking natural, instead of actually reloading a bolt (magazine) after each bolt fired.

Yeah but what I'm saying is when you go to pick up the bolt that you fired, how does the engine determine that it is one bolt and not a full quiver? Have you come across many half full mags for your other guns?
