freddie 0 Posted September 11, 2013 I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but here's my question please: I have an extra PC at my home, and my friend often comes over so we can play LAN games together. Recently, I just installed DayZ on both the PC's, but of course you can't join a server at the same time because of using the CD key twice. I was just wondering if there is a way I can host a private LAN server on just my home network so we can play together? Thanks for any help guys. So far, I've used TADST and added dayz as a mission and mod, but in LAN it shows as a co-op type mode, whereas multi-player shows as DAYZ game, and I spawn as a bird in the middle of nowhere, and I can't even join the other PC without the CD key in use error. If anyone knows how to fix the weird crow stuff, or how to make a LAN server, I would be really happy if you could enlighten me. I'm sure I've started wrong from step one. Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) You need two copies of Operation Arrowhead. You should be able to both use the same ArmA II key but you will need seperate ones for Operation Arrowhead. Edited September 11, 2013 by mZLY
freddie 0 Posted September 13, 2013 Thanks for the help. I will buy another copy when I make LAN work, but how do I make a DayZ private LAN server please?
Frytek 130 Posted September 13, 2013 You launch dayz through something. Escape from lobby. You go to multiplayer. Click new, set LAN, and there you have it. Then choose mission ( I think you need server files for that, that contents mission file), you put the mission file in MPMissions in your Arma directory( do it at the beginning). And thats all I think. Tell me if it works, never tried it.
Vicco 123 Posted September 13, 2013 Don't know anything about LAN, but DayZ needs server files to run. Which basically means you need your own server, or have to join an outside server. Any PC with decent specs can be a server. I use DayZCC as my server on my home PC. It's free. My partner connects via the internet. Don't know if we could play together at my house. Probably. Have 2 PC's, and I think the router gives each a different IP. Might slow things down, might not. I'd say your best bet is stick with internet connection. So you probably need a router to have different IP's from your house. You could play side by side that way by joining an outside server, or just set up your own server. It's not hard to set up your own server with DayZCC. Just a password makes it a single-player game if you want that. I've seen this LAN question before, but no good answers. The method I mentioned should get you set up pretty fast.
