Blood Trail. We hunt!

Recommended Posts

Simple suggestion, did do a quick search and surprisingly didn't find anything on this, I think this could replace the slightly forced interest zombies currently try to have in player corpses.

It would be nice if when a player is bleeding they leave a visible trail of blood on the ground that attracts zombies and can be seen by players to allow them to track runners and stumble across corpses.

I love the idea of being able to track people who got away, or come across a huge streak of blood and deciding on whether you want to find out the fate/potential loot somebody had or avoid it like the plague, even though you would have never known anything was there before. For having zombies follow you right up to the building you're trying to bandage in despite there being no other way they could find you.

Possible friendly situation: lets you find a wounded ally or locate his corpse so you can let him have all his things back. *nods*

Blood could also appear as partially reflective for flashlights/flares/glowsticks while it is fresh (still wet) for night time hunting.

Blood and bleeding could also make it more difficult for players to evade zombies through buildings and such.

Secondary suggestion:

Include this mechanic to a lesser degree for zombies, maybe give them black blood for identification purposes. This would allow wounded zombies to be used as blood distractions for other zombies, but only if you're far enough away that the shot won't attract them straight to you.

Tertiary suggestion:

New zombie type that is essentially a walking zombie attraction to slowly gather groups of zombies around it.
