CongressmanAlexShrub 1 Posted June 20, 2012 The problem with this game is that you have no way of knowing what your character's "vibes" are about another player's character. In real life you have no problem seeing who the troublemakers are, especially if you're used to be around people. Sure, there are sociopaths who can hide stuff like that even in real life but they are few and far between and most of them aren't good at hiding it either. While the heartbeat sound is one way of dealing with this problem in the game I think a crosshair indicator would be better. Wait, discard the word crosshair since many servers have it turned off. Call it a center-of-screen indicator.. What I propose is that if you're within a certain distance of someone, and are within line of sight, and center your screen on him (in freelook view also to avoid having to point the weapon in his face) you get info about him on your screen. The closer the distance, the more info.Typical survivorWhen looking at a bleeding, well-equipped player who has been alive for 10 hours but never shot anything but zombies and cows you might get "injured", "carrying heavy load" and finally "gives off a trustworthy appearance" to simulate the good vibes.Typical sociopathWhen looking at a freshly-spawned player who has already shot two other players just for laughs you might see "has tics", "nervous", "edgy", "looks like he wants to slit your throat" etc. When looking at a veteran player who has killed 30 other players you could get either "has a gaze of pure evil" or "seems trustworthy, but dangerous" depending on if the victims were survivors or sociopaths, or any mix in between. To balance it out maybe 1/1000 characters could be sociopaths who give off no bad vibes regardless of what they do.Discuss! XzB3A57zX 1 Posted June 21, 2012 Only problem is that most bandits would have already killed you before you could see this, unless you get the jump on them.
Slyguy65 499 Posted June 21, 2012 Did you read my topic about good and bad and how there should be a clear (or just a somewhat way of telling the two apart)Cause i also used the term sociopath lol glad to see im not alone in that perception.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted June 21, 2012 First we need to debate on the very title of this topic. Why is it a problem?
eutolicos@googlemail.com 0 Posted June 23, 2012 I like this idea. I like the heartbeat thingy too, but i never expirienced it yet. Thing is... You abiously have to be very close to a bandit to hear the beat. I think that is bad. There isno freaking way i let someone come that close to me without knowing if i can trust him. So no teamplay for me so far. (Never habe killed an other yet, but i shoot back... But sadly never managed to survive getting shoot to bad first)Heartbeat even with binoculars would really help.
