Guest Posted August 21, 2013 Hi, my brother and I both recently bought a gaming pc each. My specs are 4670k 7970 8gb RAM windows 7 home premium 64bit and I run the game on the highest settings very smoothly. My brother has 3570k 7950 8gb RAM Windows 7 pro 64bit and his framerate stutters all the time especially when he tries to turn while running. We have a third pc which we tried which is old with an athlon 6000 x2 and a 4870 and it runs dayz far better than my brothers new gaming pc. I even put the resolution down to 1024x768 and with everything set to low or off and it STILL stutters yet if I put the same settings on the third PC which is years old it will run the game like a dream. Any idea what I can try with his PC? I have just spent a few hours formatting it and reinstalling all drivers and updates and it still did it. Is there a problem with the 7950 and this game? Could it be a windows 7 pro 64bit thing? Any help you can offer will be appreciated.
TheLastEmp 295 Posted August 21, 2013 Might want to send a PM to AmberHelios . He's kind of the go to guru with things like this. As far as I know there aren't any compatibility issues with any of the components in your bro's computer... I really haven't the foggiest idea what could be causing it.
applejaxc 2500 Posted August 21, 2013 That's odd. Does the older PC have a better GPU? You said 79XX in both of the PC's stats; I'm going to go ahead and assume that's the model of AMD. What GHz is your brother's PC at?
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) What GHz is your brother's PC at? lol. -- Sometimes you just get bad performance in Arma 2, sometimes you don't My old laptop's processor ran better FPS in cities compared to my 3570k @ 4.3GHz, Arma 2/Dayz is just horribly optimized, so it's a performance gamble really Edited August 21, 2013 by Death Dealer
Guest Posted August 21, 2013 The old pc has an old 4870 amd card from quite a few years ago. Yes his new card is AMD and is a HD 7950 which I was assured would run most games nicely and is the card one step below my 7970 which runs the game with no stutter whatsoever.. His 3570k is at stock speed. I have installed the latest graphics drivers on his and have fiddled with the in game settings to no end but he cannot even play well on 1024x768 whereas I can play 1920x1080 on highest settings without any probs.
