My first kill

Recommended Posts

Just had my first kill 10 minutes ago. (human kill, that is. An innocent.)

The story is as follows:

On a server, me and this guy on the side chat were meeting up to stick together. We met on a dock/pier between Komaravo and Cherno, and we stayed on the dock/bridge thing, since the zombies hate that and won't go there. Unfortunately, to get out of this port town, we had to escape 14 (and those are the VISIBLE ones, there must have been many more) zombies around us.

We agreed to go in non-stealthily, axes flailing. I then asked him if he had any valuables or weapons, and he said "no, only this" and gave me some shoddy revolver mag or something.

I then took a look in his bag to find food. I found something else entirely: a Mak, two smoke grenades, a bloodbag and a knife. So much for no valuables, huh?

So we made our way back onto the land, ready to face the zombies, but at the edge of the dock, where we were crouching and walking slowly, I decided the both of us couldn't make it out alive. I pulled out my axe, and it only took three blows to finish him. Shoulder, hip, and then head, and he was dangling off the edge of the dock.

But something disconcerting had happened: I had heard something like a sniper bullet, the whizzing of a bullet. Was it my imagination?

I shrugged it off and threw his smoke grenades to excite the zombies and divert their attention, then did a runner. Unfortunately, my screen went grey, and I fell to the ground, a large crack noise signalling my legs as broken. The sniper guy  was indeed real, and had extracted his revenge on me.

I'm still wondering, when I "studied" the victim's body, it said he had died form a gunshot to the head. Does the game think the axe is a gun, or did the sniper finish him off for me?

bad guy! another bandit i guess..who knows how far you'll go when you'll find your first sniper rifle :beans:

don't know about the inspecting body...you said the third hit was to the head..if he was full blood that could be the killing blow(hatchet dealing 4.5k)

your death filled perfectly the picture of dayz coast gameplay: melee/guns slaughter+ snipers on the hills..

Yeah, and since there are no melee weapons in Arma II, and you have to RELOAD the hatchet, it probably just counts the hatchet as a gun.

First kill, betrayal kill.

Bad boys, bad boys...

But I kind of understand you if he was lieing to you.Buuut...still bad to betray people you decided to play with, at least for my standards.

Lets take a psychological stance on this extract shall we?

1. The most pressing matter would you have killed him anyway if he had told you of the goodies secreted in his backpack?

2. A hatchet is a personal way to kill someone did you hear him screaming for mercy as your axe struck him and if so what effect did it have on you?

3. Did the killing make you feel good?

4. Karma strikes, what you probably witnessed wasn't actually a hero trying to take his vengeance on a fresh spawn killer. It was probably a bandit with no skill sitting on a hill sniping the very type of person you just struck with an axe.

If you answered yes to question 1/3 and were excited by the prospect of murdering the chap. Then you sir are a bandit, welcome. Just don't become the type of douche that probably killed you. If you are going to walk the dark path of banditry do it the right way, attempt to rob from people instead of KoS, break legs and then force your victim into submission. KoS should be the last resort only to be taken if you are in a dangerous area and the person you have been stalking for 20 minutes turns to see you scoping him out and is about to take action against you.
