combatcomm1 234 Posted June 20, 2012 Pepsi, coke, mountain dew all contain insane amounts of sugar and caffiene. Caffieine is a diuretic. (it makes you pee) thus dehydrating you faster. The little water in caffiene is not a sufficient amount in comparison to its diuretic properties in a survival situation. Make sodas allow a boost in something. Maybe energy or focus if and when such a system is implemented but slightly dehydrate you everytime u drink it.

Riis 22 Posted June 20, 2012 Funny, in afghanistan I drank lots of coffee, I didn't get dehydrated because of it, nor did i pee more because I drank coffee...I wonder why..
deepfried 95 Posted June 20, 2012 but sodas don't dehydrate you, yes some of the ingredients have a dehydrating effect that means you will derive less hydration per volume than straight water... but you are still getting hydration!
combatcomm1 234 Posted June 20, 2012 But making it as good as water kills the neccesity for water. Especially because soda is so common.
KVCC 1 Posted June 20, 2012 But making it as good as water kills the neccesity for water. Especially because soda is so common.UHM, no it doesn't....Sorry but finding water/soda is rare enough as it is, considering you are dying of hunger and thirst every 2 hours, yeah.....no. Let's not change it.
Riis 22 Posted June 20, 2012 Actually, soda is better than water for hydration, the minerals and sugar in them makes them a much better hydration source than water.

Riis 22 Posted June 20, 2012 Dude, there's minerals in all sodas. Sodas are more isotonic than tapwater is, you should try looking it up.As a combat medic in afghanistan i always had some sodas in my rucksack to give to people if they started to dehydrate and you know why? Because they've got minerals and sugar in em, compared to the crappy Bastion water they put in their camelbags.
Techercizer 82 Posted June 20, 2012 If soda didn't hydrate I don't think I'd be alive. I've been drinking nothing but it for the past month >.>
Bipedalius 0 Posted June 20, 2012 How about making food less effective and take a longer time to eat each time after you've been drinking a soda, since it contains so much sugar which corrodes your teeth? No but seriously soda is good as it is, it's already hard to get your hands on some freshwater.
