Kashus 22 Posted June 20, 2012 I have never really been a tester for a game before. This truly has been my first experience. I have played betas, but those games were pretty polished by the time I was playing them and I never took the time to post about any issues I saw from gameplay.I have evolved in a couple short weeks with regards to how I got about playing and communicating some of the issues I have found. I think it is important for all of us to communicate if something is frustrating with the game, because I believe that the large majority of us have a pulse on what makes the game fun. I believe in this game, more than any other game I have ever played, it has grabbed me that much. Even though I get really frustrated at times, I still offer up my time to the grinder to play the game and see how it is evolving. I feel good about some of the changes coming in 1.7.1.5. I feel like I have a small voice in the direction this game is taking, because Rocket does listen to us. There are some players that are extremely vitriolic about some of the suggestions I have promoted, but Rocket's approach to feedback has just reinforced my resolve about offering suggestions and issues I have with the game. I offer some advice to a small contingent of forum users who bash people when they post about frustrations they have with the game; point them in the right direction. If you have tested multiple games before, explain the process a bit and certain goals you are looking with providing feedback/communicating. This game has pulled in a lot of testing noobs (me included). It is not unreasonable to assume that the general forum would be a hotbed for threads regarding issues/frustrations for the game, since it is in alpha and many of the current players have not actually tested a game before. General forums are where the majority of people go when discussing the game. If there are too many threads posting about the same topic, be polite and mention to them that the issue is being discussed in another key thread. Many of those threads will fall into oblivion and the cream of discussion will rise to the top. That's how I see it. :)
Jorden 63 Posted June 20, 2012 On behalf of forum-goers and veterans, I welcome you. Good to see someone else who understands what an ALPHA is.
Kashus 22 Posted June 20, 2012 That's my point though, if you have some knowledge about how to test a game in alpha stage, then share it.
tactix789 5 Posted June 20, 2012 Glad you are enjoying the game, i know i am.Most of the ever present "Rabblers" you find on forums just like these only aim to further there own agenda (often just to cause grief) and are not actually interested in discussion.Seems an abundant condition of human beings, being unable to share differing ideas and discuss them cordially. If you take into consideration that most people avoid others that do not agree with them (in RL) its not very suprising to find the hodgepodge of people clustered together via the internet unable to properly communicate.Cheers.
