Weird textures after 1600000 K memory cap

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, when I play DayZ for a longtime and when the memory usage gets to high numbers, the game becomes so laggy and teh textures become more like triangles that I have to restart the application.

This problem is even more common when I play Wasteland and comes even quicker, I have done all those tweaks in the cfg files.

Specs:

Q8600 2.5 Ghz Core 2 Quad processor

HD 7750 4Gb version

4 Gb of ram

500W psu

I play battlefield 3 at high/ultra @40-50 fps

The game's memory cap is 2047MB, you can define it as a launch parameter -maxMem=2047 You can also try running with the -WinXP option as well.

Don't limit anything by using startup parameters, it's useless anyway. And Arma 2 OA can use more than 2 GB of RAM if needed, everyone using the -maxMem parameter is just limiting the RAM usage of the game but that's not going to affect the performace in a positive way (negative, if anything).

Your problem sounds more like an overheating video card to me, check your temperatures while playing.

Uhm not really, my GPU's temperature doesn't exceed 45°C (117°F), same for the cpu, and I didn't even bother OCing them

My sources say otherwise http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/51542-psa-server-admins-how-to-optimize-your-dayz-server-for-maximum-performance/?p=502038

MaxMem does not limit the game, it will set a higher maximum for the amount of memory allowed. The maximum without setting this value is right around 1600MB...

No, re-read what Dwarden said. Arma 2 OA is a 32 bit application and can itself adress up to 4 GB on a 64 bit OS if needed. I played some Arma 2 OA Multiplayer yesterday and arma2oa.exe's memory usage was around 2,34 GB and I don't use any relevant startup parameters whatsoever, so that isn't true.

However. Corrupted Textures/ Visuals after a while of playing is usually a GPU issue, mostly overheating. If the card is as cool as 45°C after a while of playing, that's a very good result, kinda too good to believe.
