Got a new server going but what do people like more, default DayZ (nothing touched) or a custom map mods?

I get the feeling the majority will prefer a server with custom scripts, seeing as there isn't many features/entertaining events to the vanilla mod.

 

However, there's still a die-hard group who are vanilla purely. I personally would say you'd get more people with additional qualitites, but it all comes down to what said qualities were.

Doesnt matter what you do mate you still face the same issues most of us server admins have - more servers than people playing the game! I dont envy any private server owners just starting up now. Good luck though.

I prefer the one with the scripts on........... we play on Box's epoch server with  the scripts and the role play teams and its great.

we play the game as a mafia faction and its a right laugh, you should check his out and see what you think

Thing is, I'm fine with custom buildings and stuff, but im not fine with ***SELFBLOODBAG-SPAWN WITH DMR-500 VEHICLES*** etc. So a few more buildings in the north is great in my opinion.

i like the official/default version of dayz as in vanilla untouched (2 AB starting gear is not untouched...). i don't like every server having different settings. so i am constantly looking for said servers, EU, private hive, not shutting down after 2 weeks, to call one of them my "home". i find next to nothing. currently i even don't want to play because i can't find a vanilla server that i'm willing to stick with.

 

so imo there is a huge split up of the playerbase because of every server having different settings. that's not necessarily a bad thing but i would be glad to find at least a few private servers for the fans of "default dayz"...

I'm still new to playing Dayz, so I'm still enjoying just the vanilla server life.  I like the rarity of items and so forth.  I've hopped on a few private hives where you start out with too much gear (IMO) and has way too many vehicles available.  Personally I think it kills the idea behind trying to survive the zombie outbreak.

 

So for me I'd prefer more vanilla.  More buildings etc wouldn't be bad.  Even starting with maybe a hatchet wouldn't be horrible (it's easy enough to find one in the first city you scavenge).  But otherwise I think items should be rare.

I never wanted to add all the scripts in the end so i just added some more buildings and camps to spice up the battles between players :)
