Dagwood 680 Posted August 6, 2013 Gunfire needs to be louder. For both players hearing it as well as the amount of attention it draws from infected. Simple as that

Welch (DayZ) 756 Posted August 6, 2013 I think that gun sounds in general need improvement. The M4 sounds like an airsoft gun. I wish it'd be manlier sounding...
sixstringer 5 Posted August 8, 2013 I think that gun sounds in general need improvement. The M4 sounds like an airsoft gun. I wish it'd be manlier sounding... My brothers in the Armed Forces will likely back me up on this.... a NATO 5.56 round (which the M4 uses) does not sound very "manly" in reality. The AK47 7.62 is more powerful and sounds much more intimmidating.
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted August 8, 2013 Get JSRS, play on a JSRS server. Case Closed.

Sutinen 635 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) I can hear gunshots in over 1000 meter radius.. I was in the eastern hill in Cherno and heard a firefight in the other side of the city. The sounds are so distinctive I can tell exactly what gun it is expect M24, etc. since the 7.62x51 rifles have pretty much same sounds. Dagwood 680 Posted August 8, 2013 Ya, we can hear the gunshots. But at close range these louder weapons should be nearly deafening. Someone firing a 7.62 should not be able to hear someone else slow walking up into their position right afterward. And if we can hear gunshots from 1k+ meters, why are the infected so disinterested with it?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted August 8, 2013 Yes. I wish all servers would support JSRS or other sound mods. Hopefully the SA will have some really nice, high quality sounds to improve the experience.

Hopefully the SA will have some really nice, high quality sounds to improve the experience.I don't think they're adding too many guns, so hopefully we get recording of each of the real guns in different situations for max realism.Especially mic's recording bullets hitting the ground and wizzing past aswell.Maybe the sound of it hitting a pig carcass or something? Chaingunfighter 917 Posted August 9, 2013 I don't know if the infected should have a huge hearing boost, especially with the mod's current Enfield. Basically, if you were to shoot it with it's actual audible range, you'd probably have 600,000 or so zombies after you and even if you managed to finish off wave one, you'd kill the last one in that horde before the zombies respawn and 600,000 more are after you.
