I've been blathering on about DayZ to a friend for some time now and last night I had an opportunity to show him,but I wanted to make a big impression I we connected my latop to his 52" lcd TV via an HDMI cable...no sound. Killer picture, but we couldn't get any of the game sounds. I played a Bluray rip I had on my HD just fine but going back to the game I got nada. I know all HDMI cables are not created equal, but they should all carry the signal and I should get the sound...right? Is there some "in the game" settings I need to change?

Does the Video card you plugged the cable into support sound? That would be where I would start before wondering if it is a setting in a game.

Sound works normally, but DayZ has no sound.. Hmmm

I must ask the obvious first, did you go to your in game audio settings and make sure your levels were turned up?

Secondly play around with the audio samples (in the same audio settings screen) putting them lower or higher to see the result.

Thirdly, it could be related to the 3d program and your graphics card somehow associating audio with the program or something along those lines, try messing around in your graphics card control panel (CCC or NVidia control panel).

I highly doubt it's a arma 2 / dayz issue here but I've been wrong before.
