my next dumb question: what is the infection rate from blood bags?

Ok...my last question was interpreted to be trolling.  I swear, I'm not trolling, I'm just that dumb about dayz.

 

I started playing Overwatch (because my friend/dayz mentor wanted me to play with him on a server there).  This mod allows for "self blood bag administration".  Out of 2 blood bags I've tried, I've been infected twice...so that's 100% infection rate (so far).  So WTF?  What's the point of the blood bags if they end up killing you?

 

After the first infection my buddy gave me antibiotics and it was fine.  For the second one, I was alone.  I ended up infected and then ran from devils castle to Stary to try to find antibiotics, just to be shot in the city.  I hate being infected....the one part of the game I don't like.
