waltteri151 2 Posted July 31, 2013 Basically, me and my roommate want to play DayZ without other players, but when we run it on lan it either freezes on the loading or gives an error. We don't need saving or anything, we just want to play without others. I tried to edit the single player DayZ to add a second player but that didn't really work. PK Richie 507 Posted July 31, 2013 Dayz requires a database and you have to run the server files, you'll most likely need a 3rd machine.Others might know another way though.
m.cab 83 Posted July 31, 2013 Just join a server without players, problem solved. There was a lot of empty vanilla servers last time i checked.

CodyMurray 22 Posted July 31, 2013 It's easiest to just play on low pop servers, however in theory you should be able to set up a lan server - but I don't know much about DayZ server hosting.
waltteri151 2 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Well, I reinstalled my server and dayz etc. and now the server runs, I just put a password on it and it's done. My ISP wont allow port forwarding etc. so it's probably not visible and that's fine, also I tried to join another server and it didn't have my stuff, which is good because I don't want to cheat by collecting stuff from my own server and then popping into another one. Thanks anyway, I am learning the basics well by playing with my roommate, might play some proper servers at some point. :) Edited August 1, 2013 by waltteri151
PK Richie 507 Posted August 1, 2013 You don't need to port forward, just open them in your firewall and they can be read externally by gamespy or DZC etc
