DayZ Ping Spikes

Recommended Posts

So. I've had this problem for over a year where I join a server and it lags like CRAZY. Everything is going good and smooth normal graphics settings 100+fps and then a server message pops up saying GUID-something and then a bunch of numbers and then my ping spikes from 400-900 and it lags so much. While running DayZ I went onto speedtest.net and my ping was 26ms. And my ping in-game is fine until it brings up that server message. I KNOW its not that I have a bad internet connection because I live in silicon valley and have fantastic internet here. So many other people have had this problem but I still haven't found a solution that works for me. Please help internet friends, I am relying on you.

I've tried: Updating graphics drivers, putting graphics settings down, reinstalling mod, reinstalling game, rebooting computer, allowing dayz and dayz commander to go through firewall, restarting internet, hypercycling modem, disconnecting and reconnecting, connecting to servers manually, using different launchers, using wi-fi, and using ethernet.

Thank you for your time

What's your internet connection speed?

Does this problem only appear on BattlEye enabled servers?

Networking Tuning Options

class sockets{maxPacketSize = <limit>;};
   Maximal size of packet sent over network.
   This can be set for both client-to-server AND server-to-client(s) independently!
   see client(arma2.cfg#Generic_config or arma2oa.cfg#Generic_config, )
   Default: 1400
   Use please only in case Your router or ISP enforce lower packet size and You have connectivity issues with game
   Desync might happen if used MaxSizeGuaranteed/MaxSizeNonguaranteed values over the maxPacketSize.
   maxPacketSize default reduced from 1490 to 1400 since 1.60, thus MaxSize... values over 1300 could be affected negatively.

You could try playing around with your max packet size, it says it works for clients independently.  I've never messed with this stuff, nor do I know if it will do anything.  Doesn't hurt to try stuff tho! (But backup your config files before modifying!)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I told my dad everything and it was a problem with ZoneAlarm. It needed to trust BattleEye and DayZ commander and it got fixed. If anybody has this problem too I hope it helps
