EazyE (DayZ) 4 Posted July 29, 2013 2. Your server slots must be 40 slots minimum. Please also note no server provider is allowed to provide servers below 40 slots. However there is an exception for developing countries or countries where bandwidth is expensive, for those countries minimum slot count is now 30.From: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules-updated-3009/ So I've noticed HFBServers.com offers "Official DayZ Public Hive" servers with only 20 slots. Is this legit? As in: if I get one of these 20 slot servers, will I have to worry about anything? I've already noticed quite a few 20 slot servers, but I thought the max was 40? Are there new guidelines for server hosting? Did I miss something? Here are just a few off the list:173.234.233.178:2312 ------ US 1503 - (1.7.7.1/102591) Hosted by HFBservers.com I HFBservers.com108.62.145.162:2322 ------ US 1575 - (1.7.7.1/102591) Hosted by Jacob Jacob Jacob I HFBservers.com216.172.106.2:2302 ------ US 546 - (1.7.7.1/102591) Hosted by Eternal Mayhem I HFBservers.com Obviously there are more, but again, are these legit? bloodbullet 11 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) The official hive is pretty much a free reign atm, From what I know 99.9% of the rules were pulled, and there is no one enforcing them anymore. For example, the mod devs dont give two craps about a 10 slot official hive server. Notice how old that post is, almost a full year. The rules stopped being enforced or even cared about like 7 months ago lol. The mods on here even recommend you go on a private hive since the official hive is a free reign atm. EDIT. The official hive is like 2% of servers if that now, I see you signed up over a year ago when it was 99% of servers and the devs cared about it. EazyE (DayZ) 4 Posted July 29, 2013 Balls. That's disappointing. And yeah, I guess I have noticed the number of legit servers dropping - to a very low amount compared to what it once was. 2% of what it once was seems about right.

While it is true a lot of the rules are out the window, your underappreciation and lack of respect for the devs makes you either an asshole or ignorant.. They do care, but its more convenient for the DayZ budget and time to focus on making a new game than dealing with an issue most people felt has been fixed by the community. Good lord you read into stuff completely wrong. I also don't understand why you are so defensive about a simple comment saying they don't care about the official hive rules, when the truth is they don't anymore. How you took me stating they don't care about the hive rules into I don't respect the devs is just astonishing. I should also mention the only person working on the mod atm is a person who are NOT working on SA, rocket handed the mod development off to Razor quite awhile back, a person who does not, and "most" likely will not, be working on SA in any shape or form anytime soon. I assume you were trying to defend rocket in this (maybe thinking I was dumb and thought he was working on the mod?) even though he is not involved with mod development whats so ever. EazyE (DayZ) 4 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) ...an issue most people felt has been fixed by the community. You're talking about the issue that the people are completely ignoring the hosting rules right? I've seen plenty of servers with the "no PVP or ban", plenty of clan servers that kick/ban you the second you kill one of their members, and plenty that ban you on "suspected" cheating with no solid evidence. If that's the new community, I want no part of it. Edited July 29, 2013 by EazyE

EazyE (DayZ) 4 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) No. I'm talking about the private hives that people seem to think are sofuckingamazing... not that they are. Yeah, and these aren't private hives. Edited July 29, 2013 by EazyE
applejaxc 2500 Posted July 29, 2013 Yeah, and these aren't private hives. That isn't the point? He was bitching that the devs don't care, my point was there's plenty of private hives to alleviate the problem well enough that they don't have to.
