Tylovan 0 Posted June 20, 2012 ****I do know that there is a whole list of helpful threads in the sticky section, however they all talk about starting with a gun, which at this point is no help.****IF TL;DR JUST SKIP TO LAST SENETENCE!I'm not asking for an "I win" button or complaining about the current state of the game, I am simply asking for some helpful tips, tricks or general advice to help me break out of the starting areas. I am going to start with my experiences.I do know how to effectively sneak. I can crouch walk and use LOS (mostly helpful) and everything else. It does often work, sometimes I have issues but not too big of a deal. The problem here is that you have not yet found a weapon, and you aggro even one zombie, it is very very difficult, often impossible, to shake the zombie. I also know how to run. I can go into town and just aggro all the zombies, run them through buildings, around corners, jump off docks and watch some of them swim after me and more. I am having trouble getting the zombies stuck somewhere, anywhere. Sometimes I can get a few stuck due a big building and a nicely placed wall, but there are often more zombies in town anyway, so it's not helpful really.Finding weapons has been difficult so far. I found a hatchet three (3) times. The first I was already going to die from dehydration (I had been running for an hour) so I just went out swinging against a bunch of zombies. The second time I found one I was in a town with absolutely no zombies. (How lucky!). I walked into a barn and went upstairs, only to find another player with a pistol. He asked me if I was friendly, twice. I didn't respond, not because I wasn't dying to team up. But I didn't have a clue how to type back to him! How disappointing that was. :/ But at least he was nice enough to ask.The third time I was on a roll. I found lots of ammo, another hatchet and some chemlights. I figured out that zombies suck at stairs, so I would run around and bring a few up the stairs (They walk real slow) and hack them down with the hatchet without getting hit. This helped me get a bunch of soda and food which was awesome. I was doing so good! Then I went to the town hall, with zombies hot on my tail, I took them upstairs as normal and preceded hacking them to death. No good loot in the hall but as I was checking I saw something coming up the stairs! I went to hack them to death when I saw it was two players. They were yelling friendly but I was so scared of dying to zombies I already had started swinging my hatchet and they ended up shooting me. Can't blame them I guess. Does anyone have any helpful tips, tricks or general advice to help me break out of the starting areas?Maybe how to talk to other players?If I have friends playing, what's the best way to team up?Do I have to find a map before I can see it?Does loot only spawn in buildings in towns?Do zombies ever have weapons on them?How many pieces are needed to fix a car and how do you even know if you can?How do I turn my flashlight on?What does a chemlight even do?If I bandage myself, do I need to find blood still too?How long do I wait before eating/drinking?
