TheFired3mon 33 Posted June 20, 2012 Note: Just like in my first DayZ post, this is quite a long tale from a newb. I just got the game, and I see so many people complaining about it's tough, too many bandits, etc. I had some good experiences, so I wanted to share them, but when I'm typing it up, I get into a sort-of "story mode" where I tell it in detail and end up making it very long and boring. I apologize in advance for the giant wall of text XD.So, my second day of playing DayZ. I just spawned at Krutoy Cap. I decide to head for the nearest barn on the map, and then after the barn head to the nearby deer stand. As I'm sneaking up to the barn, I notice a fellow survivor to my right. He must have just seen me too. We both stop and look at each other. Then, as I ask if he's friendly, I throw a can by mistake and get seen by the zombie as I stand up. At this point I'm thinking, "That other guy is going to kill me if the zombies don't. I better run to the barn." Luckily, there is a hatchet the first place I check. I kill the zombies, and get up the stairs and wait for the other survivor. He comes in, so I ask if he's friendly. No response. I see that he has a hatchet too. A few zombies follow him in, and he kills them. I start crouch-walking down the stairs keeping my eye on him. He's watching me too. I keep turning mic on and asking if he's friendly. I head to the other side of the barn and find a shotgun. Finally, he tells me "Yeah I'm friendly. Sorry, I kept typing in the green one" or something like that. We both loot the place together, so as we part ways, I tell him "Have a good one man. See ya. Good luck." As I'm leaving, I see him in the distance, but I also see another survivor that has a gun. A little later, while I'm still crawling away from the barn, I hear a gunshot. I look around, still seeing that Leo (my friend from the barn) is ok, and I see the new survivor crawling. I ignore it and once I get into the forest, I hear another gunshot. I look over to where I thought I last seen Leo, and I see a body laying there. His death message hasn't popped up, so I figure he's injured. I head over to the body to find out that it's a zombie. Now to skip ahead. I headed to a small village (the houses between the Krutoy Cap and Solnichniy village) and as I'm running from the zombies, I see the death message "Leo has been killed." I start to wonder, what happened to him? Did that other survivor kill him? Was it zombies? I feel somewhat guilty. Maybe if we traveled together, he would've lived. After getting away from the zombies, I make it into one of the nearby houses. Getting close to dying of hunger and thirst, I close the door and sit for a moment. I look down, and see exactly what I needed. In the house, I found a few cans of soda, a water bottle, some bandages, and a can of food. Now, next time I log on, it'll be to get more ammo for my Winchester, and to find a secondary weapon. As I said in my first post, this game really does make you feel something. Maybe not when you're the "HURR DURR SHOOT EVERYTHING THAT MOVES" type of person, but I know for sure I felt fear when I first saw Leo, joy when I saw he got out without a problem, and guilt when he died. All due to the fact that he didn't attack me with that hatchet.
