Info on the steam version of Dayz.

1.In order to play Dayz on steam you must first,buy Arma 2 Combind Oprations.

(Arma2,Arma2 operation arrowhead)

2.launch Arma2 and operation arrowhead

3.Then download the beta patch/Arma2 operation arrowhead beta.(if the mod does not work do this!)

4.Then download Dayz off steam.

5.Double click on Dayz and click "play with beta patch" and then press play

6.Now select any Dayz server.(I think only chernarus works correct me if wrong)

7.And then you will wait for it to load.(might take 5 or more minutes) then you can select the play option and in you go!

Yup, you can play DayZ with non steam versions, http://www.arma2.com/

 

You need Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, these can be bought as a bundle called Arma 2: combined Operations

Thank you for this wonderful thread man. I can't believe how hard I tried looking for directions on how to run the DayZ Mod. I'm trying to be prepared before hand so if anything happens I can be sure I could overcome it. Thank you for the post again, can't wait to play DayZ, I'm downloading Arma II: Operation Arrowhead right now, have to download Arma II as well so that all would probably take me until tomorrow, or lucky by the end of today.
