Refueling a boat in the water?

I found a boat about 20 ft out into the water. Every time i try to refuel it, it goes through the animation, but doesn't refuel the boat. My jerry can becomes empty but no fuel in the boat :(

Any ideas on how to get this thing running?

That's weird. I've always been able to fill a boat up... are you in the water or on top of the boat?

If 1.7.6.1 server, you have to get in as driver before refueling.

In the water. Won't give me the option when i'm on top of the boat.

I'm sorry you're having trouble, buddy. If it's in the public version of the game, report it in the bugs list. If not, talk to your admin and see what's up.
