Feedback from a fairly new player.

Recommended Posts

i Joined this game last saturday when the game was at 1.7.0 i believe, imo for a new player (im a experienced gamer btw) is was easy BUT the zombies were at the right level of awareness imo, maybe a little tweaking was needed for the more experienced players. on sunday 1.7.1 i was getting a little bit frustrated, not to much to rage like a little carebare, but it got me using my brain abit more, so i changed how i started ( especially without a gun ) i was still sneaking at this time, but now, all i need to do is run? someone tell me why that is because really, i dont think this game should be played like that, people should be sneaking around to avoid zeds, not just agroing them, go through a small building with 2 doors and there lost.

For people that say the game isnt hard, im assuming they are the ones screwing up how this game (imo) should be played, a survival game, even though people start without a gun, there so easy to find, you can get ak's shotguns, snipers on the shore.. this isnt good, it condones griefing and camping new people, for what now? a bandage? lol you can get 30 of them at the hospital or medical camp in cherno.

Now imo there needs to be something done about the griefing, because they are NOT bandits, they are pricks ruining the essence of a survival game, dont get me wrong, you have to kill to survive, but someone without a weapon is not a threat to you.

I also have a VERY big problem with the winchester, its in two letters, OP. the range is ridiculus for a shogun ( if its not why is it using slugs? ) and it can 1 hit someone from a few hundred meters away, now thats very stupid.

the only thing i can think of to stop the continual grieifing of new people is to seperate the spawns of people who have played X amount of hours overall to the new people, the experienced people WILL know where to get weapons in the south, and there not very hard to find as a stated above.

I just want this game to be to the best it can be even in alpha, people cant TEST the game if they cant play it properly, considering people are going out and spending either £15/£25 just for a mod is good, it means people want to play it, but they cant play it as a 'zombie survival' game, they have to gun down everyone they see, which imo isnt good, makes everyone untrustworthy, and the only way to counter this is by playing with rl friends, well maybe they dont have a good spec PC or maybe they dont have the time or money.

Sorry about the wall of text, but i just wanted to give feedback on my issues :)

I have to admit, the game is getting to be rather rough. I do remember being able to pick this up with a few friends in the past, and be able to meet up with random survivors, because we all were trying to survive. Might it be someone trying to get medical treatment, food, water. Anything. We did try to survive.

But now, I've noticed it's not quite so much about that. I know I run the risk of sounding like a "carebear" (who came up with that anyway?), but it does kind of feel that at this point, people are killing one another just for the lulz. Like you said, someone with a flashlight? Not really a threat. Only time I did kill someone (indirectly) who had a flashlight was because he attracted a GIANT hoard on me, and wouldn't stop following me, no matter how hard I tried to lose him. At that point, I had to shoot him in the leg to get him away, unless he get us both killed.

Back to the original point. It is an Alpha, and we should be treating it as such. Should be trying to push and stress the boundries of the game. And yes, that does mean we do need some bandits in the game, because they're some of the stuff that needs adjusting, just like the survivors. But, at this point, everyone is kind of considering it to be more of a "glorified" demo, or whatever you want to call it. Certainly not an alpha.

It is making it rather difficult for more...recent players to get involved. Few people picked the game up due to some of the video's they've seen. Now? After playing if for a night? Most of them are like "Meh...". Shouldn't be like that. Should be more like "Damn! That was fun! Dude, same time tomorrow?" Heck yes! "Alright, let's do it!". It's just more that it's getting hard for new players who don't know the ropes to survive. Players who wanted it harder were the ones who've played for a while. They know the ropes. These people who've never played ArmA before? It's brutal.

Anyway, yeah, got carried away there. :P

Yes we can, we are here to test the new features that are added and tweaked. We have tested the new AI and most of us have come to the same conclusion.

The dev can now take these data points and use it to tweak the AI further until its about right.

See how this works?

In my oppinion.... "Shit happens" If you're willing to push forward, to try harder, to have some dedication, you keep moving. I've had my fair share of failings, and really the only way to adjust to bandits and "banditry," which is sometimes just killing, is to avoid anyone you don't know. I do it, the only time I care to attempt to "team up" with people is when I'm freshly spawned with my bandage, painkillers and my flashlight. That's the only time it's even reasonably safe, and if they shoot you... then so what? They've gained a bandage and some painkillers, and you didn't lose anything except for a little bit of your time. The general rule is if you don't cause trouble, there won't be any trouble. Keep a safe distance and we'll both be dandy.

TL;DR: If you value your stuff, only "team up" when you're freshly spawned. Furthermore, be wary of anybody. If you keep your distance, we'll be dandy. Don't talk to strangers.
