Blondedash 403 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) planned obsolescence? Obviously not the case if I still have the Same 1st gen PS3 and 360 I bought nearly 10 years ago...fine i'll rephrase it what If a life span of a pc was longer than the life span of a console? twice as long for an example Edited July 3, 2013 by Blondedash
GBTP 114 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) fine i'll rephrase it what If a life span of a pc was longer than the life span of a console? twice as long for an exampleSo a computer that could, hypothetically, without modification or upgrading, out of the box, play the newest release games after (We'll just use a 1:1 ratio lifespan, using this current console generation lifespan as basis) 10 years? I don't really believe (but to be fair I will allow that I could be wrong) that a computer bought new 10 years ago could play... say: ARMA 3 right now without upgrading.Edit:Lets say an about.. $500 computer; 'cause that about what I paid for my PS3 when I got it. GBTP 114 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) it was more of a hypothetical question what if it could. If a computer could play new games by the year, for 10 years, without upgrading, or even using your first hypothetical (Twice the lifetime, still using current console generation for basis) for 20 years, then I would imagine it would be a relatively, maybe even excessively, expensive computer to begin with, but assuming that it was affordable, or we'll say for the sake of argument: comparably priced to a console, and could guarantee that it would be able to play all newly released games for its projected lifespan, I imagine it would be very popular, even game changing for the gaming-computer industry, and hopefully it would look cool on your desk top to boot.Edited for clarity Edited July 3, 2013 by GBTP

GBTP 114 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) your semantics are wasted, it wont ever be possible given the rate that technology is advancingYou're right, not going to happen. But I was answering a hypothetical question with a hypothetical answer. No, this is not possible, but if it was, yes it would be 'most premium'.Edit:Semantics are never wasted ;P Edited July 3, 2013 by GBTP
skyofavalon 19 Posted July 3, 2013 Day Z wont sell on consoles. By the time it is ready games like The Division will be out that are lightyears ahead of it and make Day Z look like a PS2 game. PS4 gamers will laugh at it.
dgeesio 1034 Posted July 3, 2013 if it is to come to console, it will be years down the line.i believe that's what Dean said.hahaha if you think it will be that long. with a dev kit you probably talking 4 weeks tops on a port . so if they do it it will be very shortly after we get it. brawn 11 Posted July 3, 2013 With consoles being x86 platforms now it really shouldn't take them too long to port them over to ps4/x1. I would think most of the issues would be to do with controls and networking (psn/xbl junk). Granted the new generation of consoles are still below the specs of today's top end pc's, but I think the specs are probably at least on par if not better than what the average gamer is using right now. Obviously I want to play SA on pc, but having the game on more platforms can only be good for it.
