Is this banditry?

Recommended Posts

Today I was playing and had spawned at 'Factory', very close to Chernogorsk. I do my usual loot run through it, and gather some decent items, although I was lacking the items to begin my journey north. I went into the apartments as a quick loot run before going to the hospital to collect some medical equipment, and on my way out I see a player with the Hero Skin. Being a hero, I decide not to shoot, however he quickly swings round and shoots me. He easily put around 4 rounds into me before I had the chance to react, coming from an AK-74, however, I managed to survive and fire off 2 rounds of my M14 into his head before dying. Taking him with me.

I spawned at the Airstrip, and decide to take my chances and head back to my body rather than do a loot run of Balota and it's Airstrip. I manage to find both bodies, unlooted and the chance is there to take. However I then see him offering something "You leave my stuff, I leave yours". I decide to rubbish this off and loot both bodies. At this point, I easily have enough to survive a run up North.

Was I wrong to loot both bodies? Or was it right, considering it was a hero who attacked and killed me?

I don't think what you did was particularly right or wrong. He died, therefore should accept that he's lost his gear.

Yeah ... part of the game. But it depends on how you play ... if he was a Hero and was silly enough to get himself in that situation ... then first come first loot IMO. :D

well if he's a hero and shot you on sight he probably just got the skin by being an admin/friends with the admin, so no i wouldn't say it's banditry. it's sweet justice if anything. he shot you first, you got him back, it's only fair that you steal all his stuff lol

I think what I should really be asking is; "Was it bad of me to ignore his suggestion and loot both bodies?"

He killed you without any reason. He was in Cherno so he was able to get everything to survive in 5min.

Hes a bad person, and bad person need to be punishd.

Take his gear and hide his body, wait for him there and kill him again, teach him a leasson.

Although it is too late for it, excellent suggestion. You have my beans.

nah leave the body, tell him ok fair enough i'll leave it, meanwhile find as many toilet paper rolls and razors as possible and swap all his stuff over for the junk. As he checks the corpse and is about to rage come out of nowhere and kill him. If you want to really get back you can knock him out and play JB songs until he dies.

He shot first. Whatever happened to him as a result of that is his fault.

There was nothing wrong with what you did. He shot at you first. Since you were both heros it makes it twice as bad that he shot. I say enjoy the gear and good luck.

yep. a hero shooting another hero on sight = asking for death. i would have looted and then hid his body

It wasn't banditry, although it was metagaming and most of the community seems to be onboard with it. I don't like looting my own body unless I'm having a really BS day, like as a freshpawn I can't find anything but a box of matches after 4 hours and then the first person I meet shoots me. If I spawn close enough, hell yeah I'm going to get my matches back.

Exactly, If he commits a action he has to deal with the consequences whatever they may be.

You should have picked up his stuff, dropped it one by one, to make a nice little line leading either to some Zed infested building (make sure to drag them there first) or directly into your scope. *TrollFace*

I would. If I'm correct, Hero's don't shoot on sight like he did to you. I think he deserved to lose all of his gear.

You had every right to loot his body. He opened fire on you and died in the act, he was just trying desperately to convince you that he's in control. IE "You don't take my stuff and I guess I'll let you keep yours." He deserved to lose his stuff for randomly shooting someone not posing a threat to him.

Earlier today I came across someone while I was running across an extremely open field really exposed. But he didn't see me, so I just dropped and kept an eye on him with binoculars. He went on his way and I escaped.
